SOAPBOX Billboard Project Totes - The Art of Michael Kohl
SOAPBOX Billboard Project Totes - The Art of Michael Kohl
SOAPBOX is an ongoing City of Hobart initiative that gives a voice to writers and artists from the community. The work is showcased as billboards in Mathers Place, Hobart.
The Art of Michael Kohl
The Parkside Foundation offers a range of services to meet the needs of people with disabilities and older members of the community and their carers and families.
Michael Kohl was a long-time participant at The Parkside Foundation, spreading joy wherever he went. He was a prolific artist whose imaginations soared into the prehistoric era, via themes of Disneyland and cruise ships.
Michael's fascination with dinosaurs was an all-encompassing passion that drove his creativity and artistic endeavours. Across varied mediums, his particular brand of dinosaur (based on the Tyrannosauraus Rex) was explored and reinterpreted in bold expression, intricate detail and lucid text.
Michael also participated in Creative Hobart's Signal Box and Ability to Create programs.
Once the exhibition was finished, the billboard material was passed on to us and re-crafted into this Limited Editon run of tote bags.
The billboard vinyl is super sturdy and the bags feature either webbing or rope handles. They are 59cm wide x 36cm deep with a 59x10cm base.
$10 from the sale of each bag will go towards supporting the awesome community work of The Parkside Foundation in Tasmania.
