SOAPBOX Billboard Project Totes - Writing Our Worlds
SOAPBOX Billboard Project Totes - Writing Our Worlds
SOAPBOX is an ongoing City of Hobart initiative that gives a voice to writers and artists from the community. The work is showcased as billboards in Mathers Place, Hobart.
Writing Our Worlds was a 2021 collection of creative storytelling by young Tasmanians with multicultural backgrounds.
This particular bag features collage art by Rupa and written work by Ratu ...
I am from a small island
From sunny days and long nights
I am from the flats where
Noises and loud stamps are shared
The plants whose long limbs I remember
As if they were my own
I'm from Baju and Kurung and Jubah
From parents and brothers
I'm from praying at night together
Sharing the same meals
I am from Singapore and the Malay people
From Ramadan and Eid
Once the exhibition was finished, the billboard material was passed on to us and re-crafted into this Limited Editon run of tote bags.
The billboard vinyl is super sturdy and the bags feature either webbing or rope handles. They are 59cm wide x 36cm deep with a 59x10cm base.
$10 from the sale of each bag will go towards supporting the awesome community work of the Migrant Resource Centre in Tasmania.
